Visiting Leverkusen

Hello Football-Enthusiasts from all over the world! No matter if you are a fan of the Werkself or a supporter of one of our international opponents in the European championships, here is a guide that helps you making you first visit to Leverkusen and its ledgendary tream an enjoyable stay you wont forget!

Arriving by plane

Airport Köln/Bonn (CGN)
Leverkusen is a small and independent industrial city which is part of the Cologne agglomeration (Köln). Cologne shares a little international airport with Bonn, from were you can get in minutes to Leverkusen by S-Train. take the train to „Köln-Deutz“, on the same track take the S6 to the other direction to „Leverkusen-Mitte“.

Airport Düsseldorf (DUS)
Düsseldorf has a huge Airport with has most of the flights in the region. From there its just 30 min to Leverkusen/Köln by train.

Airport Weeze (NRN)
Weeze is an old military airport which is now used by Ryanair. From there its a short trip to Leverkusen.

Airport Frankfurt (FRA)
Well, Frankfurt is quite away from Cologne/Leverkusen, but there is an ICE-train connetion which just takes one hour to Köln-Hauptbahnhof. Maybe a good choice if other connections are overbooked and too expensive.

Sightseeing & Food

The Rheinland is always worth a stay some more days. Here are some suggestions for what to do with your time off.

Drachenfels (Dragon’s Rock) in the Siebengebirge at Königwinter.
The ledgendary place where the Nibelungen-Epic took place. Viewed by thousands of tourists every year and known for its great view. in the small village of Königswinter you can get the real german spirit you wont find in the big cities. Plan nearly a whole day for that trip.

Düsseldorf
If you like beer and Bratwurst, visit the Altstadt in Düsseldorf! Also called „die längste Theke der Welt“ of having more than 300(!) bars and discothèques, there is whre you can have fun to the fullest. Besides the sightseeing-blabla, go visit the Japanese part of the city. You will find really good restaurants there!

Cologne
15 min from Leverkusen, always worth a visit. To get a view over the region an take some photos, many tourists go up the cathedral all the steps being exausted rest of the day and fucked up about the other tourists. Well, our suggestion, go on the rooftop of the LVR-Tower where there is a sightseeing platform. There you will have an astonishing view over whole Cologne, Leverkusen and the beautiful Bergische Land. The rest of the city is just packed with 70s uglyness architecture and those boring modern steel/glass buildings. Allies didn`t left much over after World War II.

Bergisch Gladbach & Bensberg
This little city is famous for its high desity of Millionaires and high class hotels and star restaurants. If you visit the Rheinland like Lady Gaga, Robbie Williams, Vladimir Putin oder Abramiwitsch and his Chelsea FC, you stay at „Schlosshotel Bensberg“ or „Schlosshotel Lerbach“ with the 3 Michelin Star menue. Thats how we roll.

Bonn
Former german capital and just some minutes away. Nice old Town with al lot of shops and food at reasonable prices.

Tickets

The stadium of Bayer Leverkusen is one of the most traditional stadiums of the german Bundesliga, but through rennovation and upgrades still one of the most modern in Europe. It has an excellent sight from every seat, except the section „H-Block“. In addition all german stadiums meet high security standards and can be visit even with your whole family.

In case you are fan of Bayer Leverkusen and want to catch the real spirit, we recommend to visit the fan section which are the blocks C and D, where the lower tier of the C-Block is converted into terracing on national games. If you are lucky you can get a ticket. Write an E-mail to: fanbetreuung@bayer04.de

You are not allowed to take in fireworks and filled bottles of any kind.

More football.

Yes, if one game isnt enough, you will have lots of opportunities to see some smaller, but also good clubs in the region.

FC Köln
The derbyrival of Leverkusen was founded in 1948 bringing the commerce and professionalism into the german football. Being first at using training facilities and highly payed players the effort led into some titles until the whole bundesliga got professional structures. From there on the club lost its success, leading into decades of chaos. Nowadays the club has lost any spirit of serious football and is just an event for the fans singing carnival songs and a soap opera in the daily boulevard news. They play second league.

Fortuna Düsseldorf
The old traditional club of Düsseldorf since 1895. Playing in the first league and due its huge stadium there is always a chance to get a cheap ticket for the astonishing Arena that was made for the FIFA Worldcup 2006.

VFL Bochum
If you want to get the traditional spirit of 90s german Bundesliga, Bochum is a must! There you can enjoy the highly recommended german 2.Bundesliga and eat the best stadium Bratwurst by listening to the best hymn that was made by the ledgendary german musican Herbert Grönemeyer, „Bochum“.

  1. Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iPad and tested to
see if it can survive a 30 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is
now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I
had to share it with someone!
